Meet John Wombacher, Iowa City East Hy-Vee Produce Manager. John and his staff of 12 have over 140 years of combined produce experience and have won many company produce awards. John has been Produce Manager here for 4 years and he will be glad to assist you with anything from how to tell when a honeydew is ripe to planning special orders of your favorite fresh produce items.

This is one of Hy-Vee's largest produce departments, both in selection and size of the department. You will always find a selection of over 500 produce items including a large vegetarian selection of meat, cheese and yogurt substitutes, as well as a huge organic offering of over 100 items.

Fresh produce has become a global business with fresh fruits and vegetables coming in from all over the world. We bring in sweet jaffa oranges from Israel, European chestnuts, red French finger potatoes from Peru, clementines from Spain, sweet onions from Peru, bosc pears from Argentina, raspberries from Chile, ugli fruit from Jamaica, gold kiwi from New Zealand, tangeloes from Australia, spiked kiwi and melon from Africa and hundreds more.

We can offer discounts for case lot or large orders for restaurants, businesses or anyone ordering large quantities. John and his staff will be glad to assist you.
